Seeking a motivated candidate for Media Director Position – to lead media strategy, planning and implementation of integrated campaigns for Mason clients.  Our Media Directors are responsible for the strategic development, written recommendations, presentation and co-implementation of campaigns.

Works closely with media, digital, creative and account service team members to plan and manage campaigns.  Demonstrates the results and value of media campaigns to clients.  Responsible for primary client interface and building relationships with clients in order to fully understand their goals and provide strategic recommendations as to how media can help achieve these goals.  Oversees and works with a team of 2-4 media and billing professionals to aide the execution, tracking and billing of the media plans.  Partners closely with the account and analytics teams to develop measurement plans and report results.  Develops and fosters positive working relations with all media partners to determine the strongest channels for client media plans.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the strategic lead in the development of media planning for a variety of advertising campaigns across clients. These strategies include program planning, tactical media plans and measurement plans.  Plans are presented in clear written summaries and flowcharts/calendars in order to secure buy-in among agency stakeholders and clients
  • Work closely with account teams to evaluate client needs and establish KPIs for media and advertising
  • Mentor media team members, providing constructive feedback, support and inspiration, to help them achieve their professional goals
  • Analyze market research and study demographic data of a wide range of media vehicles to determine the most effective approach to reach target audience
  • Manage client expectations and deliverables overseeing the development and execution of all media efforts to ensure they are on strategy, on budget and on schedule
  • Oversee all multi-media planning and buying activities; shepherd all buys with the media outlets to insure optimum positioning, added-value elements and trade when required
  • Identify new advertising opportunities to reach consumer segments that match our client’s target demographic
  • Assist in the development of proposals and agency reviews by creating plans, points of view, written summaries, and client presentations
  • Cultivate strong relationship with various media partners to ensure that our clients are devising as much value as possible from all media investments
  • Represent client and agency to the media community in a consistently respectful and professional manner
  • Provide reporting on campaigns and tracking various KPIs. Monitor and analyze program performance — optimizing rigorously to improve results
  • Ensure quality, creativity and integrity of all media services provided, as well as timely delivery
  • Oversee research of media outlets, identifying: viewership demographics, geographic coverage, spot rates, added-value opportunities, etc.
  • Issue insertion and traffic orders as necessary
  • Implement plan and maintain budget control throughout entire process
  • Oversee and direct media invoice reconciliation process
  • Maintain tracking system and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Be highly organized and effectively manage all the details associated with media campaigns
  • Continuously look for and participate in new business opportunities


  • 7+ years of hands-on planning, buying, managing and analyzing all media channels – broadcast/cable TV, radio, outdoor, print and digital media
  • Client-facing experience, including senior stakeholders
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience in a range of industries, such as healthcare, insurance, banking, retail/entertainment and B2B markets is a plus
  • Attention to detail and time management to deliver high quality work for multiple projects across several client engagements while meeting deadlines
  • Understanding of ratings data, such as: Nielsen & Arbitron
  • Negotiating and relationship-building skills with the ability to obtain LURs, low CPPs, as well as trade and added-value elements
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Flexible and independent thinking needed
  • Ability to manage multiple vendor relationships across numerous markets
  • Experience managing multiple accounts simultaneously in order to achieve various business goals
